Snow is melting causing a flood in our subdivision.

We have had a few days of warmer weather - in the low 40's. It has been nice, but with about 1 1/2 feet of snow on the ground, where all is flat, the fast melt is a big problem. I took all these pictures yesterday afternoon. (2/12/08) We noticed small "puddles" of water in the backyard on Monday, and kind of laughed them off as our own swimming pools, but never thought it would amount to anything. Yesterday AM, I left for errands and school stuff at 1130 AM, only to come home to major flooding all around at 3:00 pm, and by 6:00 pm, it was even worse. All of the neighbors were returning home from work about this time, and everyone was freaking out by the amount of water. People were driving around taking pictures, angry with developers because they haven't put in adequate drainage site, etc. It was crazy. My dear wonderful, so smart husband finally convinced them that we needed to dig a trench at the back where the water was coming in from the field. Fortunately, someone knew someone who had a backhoe, so they went and got it, and Brad began "saving the neighborhood". To make a long story short, at 1230 AM he returned home very cold and tired. The problem might be fixed temporarily only due to the fact that today is below freezing - so now we have ice rinks all around us. Two of the neighbors are pumping water this AM (into our yard - not sure what to do about that - and Brad is at work), and they are digging across the way. It is supposed to stay at freezing or just below for a few days now, and it is snowing this AM. Oh, all I can do is sigh................this is all so overwhelming, but I have to say, that watching all the neighbors come together last night to fix the problem was very reassuring that we are in a great neighborhood. I don't think many of us slept very good last night due to worry, and I am sure today will be another long day trying to fix the problem. I was so proud of my husband. He had just gotten home after working 12 hours, and immediately went to work here. He is such a great man! Anyway, I will keep you posted on what becomes of all this.
